Review Aztec Family Raceway

Aztec Raceway offers some of the best racing and practice available to the local Colorado Springs area. I rate this track a full five stars because of one simple reason; it has everything you need in a professional MX track. It is one of the few tracks I can go to and feel as if I am at a professional event. The convenience of having restrooms in a sensible place, the food service is on par with your typical track, (the burgers are awesome by the way), the offered services of the on site mechanic, and much more. In terms of practice, this place likes to keep the track open as often as possible. I have personally been there on days when they manned the tractor and removed the snow. They believe in track preparation. On race day the track is as it always is, prepped to the hilt. The berms are perfect, the ruts are removed, the jumps are resurfaced. The layout is challenging but not impossible. Beginners would most likely have to practice for a day first before feeling confident enough to enter a race there. Obstacles include several jumps but nothing quite like a pro track. Mostly tables and some intermediate doubles. Of course this all depends on what changes they have made, for during the course of a year they might change the track several times. If I remember correctly they even offer in the entrance fee (for racers only), the cost of renting the electronic position transponder. For those of you who have never used one this is the equipment used for determining track position of riders during a race. Byron Wolf the owner is as professional as one can get and runs his track in a professional manner. This is as close to a nationally known professional track as you can get. Some well known pros have even gotten their racing careers off to a start at this place; it's that good. If they do as they have in the past there is also a winter season of racing at Aztec, how many places do you know that do that in Colorado? So, to sum it up, you gotta hit this track at least once in your lifetime or you haven't truly lived.
