North Carolina Motorsports Park (NCMP) in Henderson is a major AMA racing venue and one of the most complete motocross destinations in the entire Southeast. Set on 230-plus acres of rolling wooded terrain in Vance County, north-central North Carolina, NCMP runs four distinct motocross tracks scaled by skill from peewee through advanced, plus a dedicated 3/4-mile practice track AND 8 miles of marked woods trails, making it one of the few U.S. motocross facilities that legitimately delivers a full motocross-plus-enduro weekend on a single property. The headline track is the 1-3/4 mile main race course, a challenging, highly-rideable pro-level layout on a clay-and-dirt mix with full sprinkler irrigation. The watering system is genuinely a differentiator: NCMP can keep the surface tacky through North Carolina summers when many comparable Southeast tracks turn to hardpack dust by mid-afternoon. The track has been used for AMA-sanctioned national events and regional championship rounds, and the surface preparation is consistent enough that pro-level training works here. The remaining tracks split skill levels cleanly: a peewee track for the youngest riders, an intermediate practice loop, and an advanced track that connects to the main for cross-discipline practice. The 3/4-mile dedicated practice track is where most regular riders spend their open-practice days, high-volume, varied terrain, prepped for daily riding. The 8 miles of woods trails are mature, marked, and routed through the surrounding wooded property, proper natural-terrain enduro riding rather than the abbreviated woods loops you find at most motocross facilities. Practice schedule is 7 days a week year-round, 10am-5pm weather permitting, that's 7-day weekly access, which is rare in the Southeast where most tracks operate weekend-only. Hours adjust seasonally; call (252) 767-6671 to confirm before driving in. The facility hosts several AMA motocross races throughout the year, with regional series and amateur championship rounds anchoring the calendar. Address: 900 Cheeks Quarter Road, Henderson, NC 27537. From Raleigh it's about an hour north on I-85; from Durham, 50 minutes; from Richmond, VA, 90 minutes south; from Charlotte, 2.5 hours northeast. Henderson is a small town but has basic mid-range hotel infrastructure for race weekends, and the larger Triangle area (Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill) is close enough to support visiting riders. The surrounding terrain is classic North Carolina Piedmont, rolling, wooded, with the kind of natural elevation that makes the dirt interesting without being so steep that it's exhausting. Soil is a clay-and-dirt mix that holds prep through long Carolina summers when irrigated properly. NCMP delivers across every dimension that matters for a serious U.S. motocross destination: pro-level main track, four skill-graded layouts, dedicated practice surface, miles of woods trails, year-round 7-day access, AMA event hosting credentials, and the kind of operational discipline that comes from a facility built for the long haul. Whether you're a Southeast rider looking for a regular weekly destination or a visiting rider trailering through I-85, North Carolina Motorsports Park earns its spot at the top of any NC moto map.
