Smallest state in the country and one moto track to its name. Buttonwoods MX in West Warwick handles the local riding for Rhode Islanders who don't want to cross the line into Massachusetts or Connecticut for a weekend. Most Rhode Island riders chase the NESC schedule across the southern New England circuit, which puts more racing miles on a trailer per season than what you'd guess looking at the state's footprint. Soil at Buttonwoods is the same coastal-loam mix you find at the Massachusetts and Connecticut shore tracks: drains decently, sets up fast. Season runs mid-April through October. The scene is small enough that everyone knows everyone, which is either great or claustrophobic depending on how you look at it. The vintage class here runs on weekends when the modern guys are out of state for a regional event. If you live anywhere east of Providence, dirt is closer than you think.
