Wisconsin

Glacial-lake country, glacial-loam soil, and a scene that runs hard from May through October. Aztalan Cycle Club in the south is one of the older clubs in the Midwest, Arkansaw Cycle Park (the spelling is intentional, it's named after a creek not the state), Tigerton MX, Dyracuse. Wisconsin dirt rides among the better-prepared in the country at the bigger venues; the loam holds water well and sets up fast. AMA District 16 covers most of the points calendar. The state is small enough geographically that riders here cross over into Minnesota, Illinois, and Michigan constantly. Season starts late April and shuts down hard by late October. Mosquitoes in June and July are real planning factors. The Wisconsin Motocross Association schedule fills the bulk of weekend racing. Loretta Lynn's qualifier circuit pulls fast amateur riders through Wisconsin every spring. Vintage class is active and the regulars at the major weekend events tend to know each other across decades of racing.
